The Arizona Wildcats had a very productive month of June on the recruiting trail, adding eight of their 11 commits for the 2021 class. July is off to a good start as well.

On Saturday, the Fourth of July and his parents’ anniversary, 3-star linebacker DJ Fryar announced his commitment to Arizona.

Fryar is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 1,303 player in the country as well as the 53rd-best inside linebacker and the No. 16 prospect in Washington.

Originally from Tacoma, the 6-foot-3, 215-pound backer had a productive first season after transferring to Steilacoom High School. He finished with 87 tackles (five for a loss), a sack, two interceptions and a fumble recovery in 2019.

Fryar holds seven offers in total, including two from Pac-12 programs. He chose Arizona over Washington State, Boise State, Fresno State, Air Force, Army and Nevada.

Fryar becomes the 12th member of Arizona’s 2021 class, which ranked 65th in the country and sixth in the Pac-12 before his commitment.

Here are his junior year highlights:
