Arizona coach Sean Miller released a statement on Josh Green declaring for the NBA Draft, calling him “one of the most talented players that we have coached at Arizona” then briefly explained why the Australian swingman can be a roaring success at the next level.

“His athleticism and determination separate him from his competition, giving him an incredibly high ceiling as an NBA player,” Miller said. “All of us at Arizona are excited to watch him fulfill his great potential at the next level. We wish Josh the best of luck in his future. Personally, I will miss Josh’s fun-loving personality and team-first attitude. He played every game for us with one goal: WIN.”

A bouncy 6-foot-6 wing with a 6-foot-10 wingspan, Green profiles as a plus defender at the next level, and should be able to make some highlight players in transition from the get-go, though his upside will ultimately rest in how much he is able to develop offensively.

Green, who averaged 12 points per game, shot 36.1 percent from 3-point range, a solid mark but in a small sample size, as he only hoisted 83 triples in 30 games. He wasn’t absurdly dangerous as a driver either, shooting 45 percent on 2-pointers.

Still, for the reasons Miller mentioned, virtually every mock draft projects Green will be a first-round pick, mostly toward the latter half of the round.
