But will he play, and how much?

Senior center Chase Jeter will be available to play for the Arizona Wildcats when they host the Los Angeles schools this weekend, coach Sean Miller said Tuesday.

Jeter has sat out all but two minutes of the last five games with a back injury, missing three consecutive games before appearing late in the first half last Thursday at Washington. That check-in seemed more out of necessity after Arizona’s frontcourt was saddled with first-half foul trouble.

He then was unavailable for Saturday’s win at Washington State because of back soreness.

Miller said Jeter practiced on Monday, a good sign that he’s getting back to full strength. How much he’ll play Thursday against USC, though, is uncertain.

Arizona has looked like a different team during Jeter’s absence, with senior Stone Gettings breaking out in his starting role. Gettings had Arizona career highs in points (19) and rebounds (12) at WSU after scoring 13 at Washington.

Gettings is averaging 10.0 points and 4.8 rebounds on 58.8 percent shooting during his starts. Jeter’s absence has also meant more minutes for Ira Lee, with the junior averaging 17.2 (compared to 12.4 with Jeter).
