J.J. Taylor has made a big step toward realizing his dream of playing in the NFL.

The former Arizona Wildcats running back has been invited to the 2020 NFL Scouting Combine, according to his high school team’s Twitter account.

Participating in the combine will allow Taylor to showcase his talent to all 32 NFL teams and see how he stacks up against his peers. That is especially important for someone like Taylor who at 5-foot-6 is undersized and may have flown under the radar playing for some listless Arizona teams.

The speedy but powerful Taylor rushed for 3,263 yards and 18 touchdowns in his UA career, also catching 62 passes for 482 yards and two touchdowns, and returning 41 kicks for 988 yards.

WalterFootball lists Taylor as the No. 12 running back in the 2020 draft class. CBS Sports pegs him as the No. 233 overall prospect, essentially a sixth- or seventh-round projection.

The combine runs from Feb. 24 to March 2 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. Last year, 338 prospects participated in the event.
