Arizona adds much needed Texas linebacker

As the 2020 recruiting cycle draws to a close, the Arizona Wildcats have been working tirelessly on the recruiting trail to complete the class. And on Sunday evening, they received some good news.

During the Super Bowl, 3-star outside linebacker Derick Mourning announced his commitment to the Wildcats.

Mourning had an official visit to Tucson this past weekend and announced his decision after it concluded.

The 3-star backer played at Paetow High School in Katy, Texas. He had some academic issues but has since taken care of those to become eligible. Due to this, Mourning only had four offers: Arizona, Louisiana-Monroe, Sam Houston State, and Tulsa.

Mourning finished his senior campaign with 75 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, seven sacks, one pick, four pass breakups, one forced fumble, three recoveries.

Mourning is ranked as the 41st outside linebacker in the nation, 80th player in Texas, and 619th player nationally, per 247Sports composite rankings.

With Mourning’s commitment, Arizona has made 19 total additions to the team: 12 signees, five commits, and two grad transfers.

Mourning has some very impressive film. Take a look below.
