Nico Mannion and Josh Green’s status uncertain for Baylor game

Neither has practiced this week

The Arizona Wildcats are facing plenty of adversity leading up to their biggest game to date.

Senior forward Stone Gettings is out indefinitely with a facial fracture (and concussion) while freshmen Nico Mannion and Josh Green will be a game-time decision for Saturday’s road game at No. 18 Baylor due to their own ailments.

Sean Miller said Mannion is dealing with lower back soreness, suffered during the Wooden Legacy, and has not practiced this week. Green has strep throat and has not practiced either. Miller anticipates Mannion playing but is unsure what kind of role he’ll have.

Same goes for Green.

“So we’re a little banged up,” Miller said. “I’m hoping the next couple of days those guys can practice but you have to certainly practice to play in the game, certainly to start, because it’s a team sport. Especially (because) it’s not one or two days, it’s been the entire week. So we’ll learn more today. We haven’t practiced today yet so we’ll see how those two guys are. And we’ll see how they are tomorrow. We don’t have a shoot-around on Saturday because it’s an early game, so today and tomorrow are really important. But sometimes that’s what happens in these exempt tournaments—you play three games in four days, especially for young guys it’s not easy to play three college games in four days. So I think it’s taken its toll a little bit on our team.”
