Ex-Arizona defensive tackle PJ Johnson signs with Chargers’ practice squad

Former Arizona Wildcats defensive tackle PJ Johnson has been signed to the Los Angeles Chargers’ practice squad, the team announced Wednesday.
Johnson was a seventh-round pick by the Detroit Lions in the 2019 NFL Draft, but was waived on Aug. 31, just a few days before the start of the regular season.
Practice squad players make a minimum of $8,000 per week.

Johnson spent one season at Arizona after transferring in from City College of San Francisco. He was highly-productive. The 6-foot-4, 335-pound DT logged 31 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, three sacks, two fumble recoveries, a forced fumble and a pass breakup.
Johnson graduated last spring and opted to forgo his senior season. He has been pretty open about the fact he was considering transferring to Oregon after his junior season:
