Height, versatility make Arizona signee Dalen Terry ‘unique’, Sean Miller says

Arizona Wildcats coach Sean Miller was able to make his first public comments about Dalen Terry after Thursday’s win over San Jose State, a day after the 2020 recruit signed his National Letter of Intent with the school.

“The thing that I love about him is he’s a great competitor,” Miller said. “And although he can play the point guard position, he can play with a point guard. He can play with two guards. Because he’s 6-7, you can really play him anywhere on the court. A lot like Josh Green, I think he has a chance to be an incredible defensive player. He’s only getting better playing for Hillcrest right now. They play a national schedule, Mike Bibby is a really good coach. I think Dalen is going to learn a lot and come ready to play.”

A four-star recruit, Terry is the No. 32 player in his class according to 247Sports composite rankings, but Miller views him as a five-star prospect.

“You gotta remember Zeke (Nnaji) is a four-star,” Miller said. “A lot of people didn’t have him in the top-50, even top-100 for a long time, so I’ll give Dalen similar credit.”

When asked if Terry reminds him of a player Arizona has had in the past, Miller couldn’t think of one.

“He’s so unique because he’s so tall and yet he’s a guard,” he said. “He’s 6-6, 6-7, so I really don’t have a comparison of a guy. But I think his versatility is a lot like the guys we’ve had. It’s not like he does one thing. He can do a lot of things. He can impact the game and not really score a lot of points.”

Miller reiterated Thursday that Arizona will eventually bring in a class of “four or five” players and wouldn’t be surprised if it adds another player or two by Christmas.

So far Terry is UA’s lone 2020 commit.
