4-star wing Dalen Terry signs with Arizona

The Arizona Wildcats officially have their first member of the 2020 recruiting class after wing Dalen Terry signed his national letter of intent on Wednesday.

He announced the news on Instagram.

Terry, a 4-star prospect from Hillcrest Prep in Phoenix, committed to Arizona in July over offers from ASU, Arkansas, Cal, Colorado, USC, Utah and Vanderbilt. He is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 32 player in the 2020 class, the sixth-best small forward in the country and the No. 2 player in Arizona.

Here’s what his 247Sports scouting report says:

Good size and very long arms. Still physically immature with plenty of room add strength. Best asset is his passing ability; outstanding vision for positions. Extremely versatile wing. Respectable ball skills and can be at least a secondary ball handler but likely most effective as a playmaking wing. Better shooter from midrange than three. Capable finisher due to size and length. Has physical tools to guard multiple positions. Lot of upside here; if continues to improve as shooter and ball handler has easy NBA upside but worst case should be a high-major starter.

Hillcrest Prep is the same school from which Arizona signed Deandre Ayton in the 2017 recruiting class. The Wildcats were also pursuing other Hillcrest players, including 4-star wing Puff Johnson, who signed with North Carolina on Wednesday.

Arizona isn’t expected to sign anyone else during the early signing period, which began Wednesday and runs through Nov. 20, but key target Adam Miller—a 4-star shooting guard from Chicago—has the Wildcats in his top three and plans to announce his commitment on Nov. 21.

Coach Sean Miller said Tuesday he expects to add five newcomers by the spring, though he didn’t indicate how many would be signees from high school or junior college and how many would be from the transfer market.
