Most experts think Arizona will miss bowl game, despite win over Texas Tech
Casey Sapio-USA TODAY Sports
Despite a big win over Texas Tech to cap non-conference play, most experts still think the Arizona Wildcats (2-1) will fall short of a bowl game for the second straight season.
Here is where UA stands in the latest national projections:
- ESPN: N/A
- Sports Illustrated: N/A
- USA Today: N/A
- 247Sports: N/A
- Stadium: Cheez-It Bowl vs. Iowa State (Phoenix, Ariz.)
- CollegeFootballNews: Frisco Bowl vs. SMU (Frisco, Texas)
- CBS: N/A
- SB Nation: N/A
- Sporting News: N/A
The Wildcats have to go 4-5 in Pac-12 play to reach bowl eligibility. Due to the imbalanced nature of the Pac-12, Arizona does not play Cal or Washington State this season.
The most winnable games remaining are against UCLA (at home), Oregon State (at home) and Colorado (on the road). Injury-plagued Stanford (on the road) looks vulnerable too, though the Cardinal have always been a tough matchup for Arizona.
Either way, it will be a challenge for the Wildcats to get to six wins, but not out of the realm of possibility after they avoided a loss to Texas Tech.
