Brandon Randolph to play for Minnesota Timberwolves in NBA Summer League

After going undrafted Thursday, Arizona Wildcats guard Brandon Randolph has agreed to play for the Minnesota Timberwolves in NBA Summer League, according to his high school program.

Las Vegas Summer League, which features all 30 teams, kicks off on July 5. Each team plays at least five games and as many as seven. The circuit mostly consists of first- and second- year players plus some fringe NBA prospects.

It will be a good opportunity for Randolph to showcase his talent to not only NBA front offices, but international scouts as well.

An athletic 6-foot-5 wing, Randolph averaged a team-high 12.4 points per game in his sophomore season at Arizona, but will need to shoot the ball with better proficiency in Vegas, as he made just 29 percent of his 3-pointers last season.

It is not clear which other former Arizona players will be participating in Summer League. Rawle Alkins, a two-way player for the Chicago Bulls, seems like a strong bet. As does Kobi Simmons, who spent all but one game of the 2018-19 season with the Cleveland Cavaliers’ G League team after inking a one-year deal with the club.

Allonzo Trier seems unlikely to play, seeing that the Knicks just exercised a team option worth $3.5 million. Same goes for Suns big man Deandre Ayton, who made the All-Rookie Team and doesn’t have much to prove in Vegas.
