Pima defensive back Haki Woods decommits from Arizona
Woods had committed to Arizona just 10 days ago
Ten days after committing to the Arizona Wildcats, Pima Community College defensive back Haki Woods reopened his recruitment Thursday.
“This doesn’t mean that I won’t be going to the University of Arizona, I just want to give myself some time to think and to take the opportunity to visit other universities to make sure that I’m making the best decision for myself,” he tweeted.
“Arizona has some great coaches (Coach Yates, Coach Singleton, Coach Magee, Coach Smith) and what they’re doing this year is amazing. I’m very blessed with all these great opportunities, now I just want to see where I fit in best at and choose the best institution that I’ll have the most success at, with the best opportunity of achieving my biggest goal of reaching the NFL!
“I’m human! Respect my decision.”
Woods’ decommitment brings UA back down to 16 members in its 2018 class. The Wildcats picked up a commitment from Georgia wide receiver/tight end Zach Williams earlier Thursday.
Woods, a Chicago, Ill. native, is unranked by most scouting services, though 247Sports has him as the No. 1773 player in his class.
Woods is listed as a cornerback by Pima, but 247Sports lists him as a safety, suggesting he can play both positions.
The sophomore has 32 tackles and four pass breakups in six games this season.
The good news is the ‘Cats have other cornerback targets they are looking and sitting well with. I will be going over them — and other targets — later this weekend.
