Arizona in the NFL: Robert Golden shows off his cannon arm on trick play

A lot of former Wildcats were in action this past week

Sunday meant another week in the NFL and another week of former Arizona Wildcats in action.

While some players and teams did not have great performances, one UA alum showed off great arm strength and accuracy on a rare pass.

Let’s take a look at how the former ‘Cats performed this past weekend.

Rob Gronkowski, TE, New England Patriots

2017 Stats: 29 rec, 452 yds, 4 TD

Gronk had a decent game overall. He came up with 51 yards on three catches. He did do a great job blocking for Brandin Cooks on his 27-yard touchdown catch-and-run.

Will Parks, S, Denver Broncos

2017 Stats: 18 tackles, 1 PBU

Denver did not have a good game, at all. The Broncos lost to the Los Angeles Chargers 21-0, Denver’s second loss in a row. Parks ended the game with five tackles.

Robert Golden, S, Pittsburgh Steelers

2017 Stats: 3 tackles

Golden finished the Steelers’ 29-14 win over the Cincinnati Bengals with a tackle. However, that wasn’t what made headlines. Golden showed off his cannon of an arm when he launched a 44-yard pass down the sideline to Darrius Heyward-Bey on a fake punt.

Brooks Reed, DE, Atlanta Falcons

2017 Stats: 20 tackles, 5.0 TFL, 3.0 sacks

Reed was borderline a non-factor against the Pats Sunday night, only recording two tackles. His struggles epitomized the Falcons’ play all night against New England.

Earl Mitchell, DT, San Francisco 49ers

2017 Stats: 20 tackles, 2.0 TFL, 1 PBU

After having his best performance of the season against Washington last week, Mitchell had a “meh” performance. He only recorded a tackle in San Francisco’s miserable 40-10 loss to the Dallas Cowboys.

Scooby Wright, LB, Arizona Cardinals

2017 Stats: 1 tackle

The Cards are another team that had an absolute miserable performance Sunday as the took on the Los Angeles Rams in London. Arizona dropped the game 33-0. Scooby recorded his first tackle of the season.

Marquis Flowers, LB, New England Patriots

2017 Stats: 4 tackles

Flowers did see the field against the Atlanta Falcons, however, he did not record any stats. The Pats spanked the Falcons 23-7.

Nick Foles, QB, Philadelphia Eagles

Foles did not see the field in Philly’s 34-24 win against the Washington Redskins.

Nick Folk, K, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

2017 Stats: FG — 6-for-11, 50-yd long; PAT — 7-for-9

Folk had a disastrous game against New England two weeks ago. He went 0-for-3 on field goal attempts and was placed on the IR afterward.
