Nassir Little to commit Wednesday night, Arizona not in the mix

The 5-star prospect will reportedly choose between North Carolina and Georgia Tech

Five-star wing Nassir Little will be picking a school at 6 p.m. EST on Wednesday, he announced on Twitter.

The 2018 prospect listed a final five of the Arizona Wildcats, Miami Hurricanes, North Carolina Tar Heels, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, and Duke Blue Devils back in early August, but Adam Zagoria reports North Carolina and Georgia Tech are the two finalists, with the Tar Heels as the “heavy favorite.”

North Carolina and Georgia Tech apparently weren’t always the leaders, as Jonathan Givony of DraftExpress said many coaches stopped recruiting Little because they thought he was “Arizona-bound.”

However, after Arizona assistant Book Richardson was arrested for his role in a recruiting bribery scandal, Little tweeted (then deleted) that he had re-opened his recruitment, possibly signaling that Arizona was no longer an option.

Little was not explicitly implicated in the FBI investigation that led to Richardson’s arrest, but some believe he was one of the unnamed recruits in the complaint who was offered money.

That said, Little’s AAU program, 1 Family, denied those allegations, saying in a statement that the “Little family did not ask for, nor were offered money by an institution or individual.”

Little is the No. 9 player in the 2018 class, per 247Sports, and the Orlando native is not the first recruit to sour on Arizona since the FBI’s investigation went public last Tuesday.

No. 1 prospect R.J. Barrett eliminated the Wildcats from his top five, while five-star forward Simi Shittu canceled his official visit to Arizona.
