Arizona in the NFL: Brooks Reed has strong performance; Will Parks stands out; Scooby Wright gets called up

Plenty of former UA players were in action this Sunday

It’s four weeks into the NFL season and plenty of former Arizona Wildcats are continuing to make their mark in the league.

Let’s take a look at how UA alumni performed this weekend:

Brooks Reed, DE, Atlanta Falcons

2017 Stats: 14 tackles, 5.0 TFL, 3.0 sacks

Reed continues to be a massive problem for opposing quarterbacks and offensive lines. He had the strongest performance of any former Wildcat, tallying seven tackles and two TFLs, including a sack. Atlanta, however, dropped their game to Buffalo 23-17. Reed now leads the Falcons in sacks (3) and TFLs (5).

Will Parks, S, Denver Broncos

2017 Stats: 13 tackles, 1 PBU

Parks had the best game of his young career statistically against Oakland. He notched a career-high six tackles and a deflected pass in the Broncos’ 16-10 victory.

Parks is continuing to see an expanded role on Denver’s defense and should continue to play a big part this season.

Rob Gronkowski, TE, New England Patriots

2017 Stats: 20 rec, 318 yds, 2 TD

Gronk continued to be a big target for Tom Brady. He had 80 yards on four catches in the Pats’ 33-30 loss to Carolina.

Earl Mitchell, DT, San Francisco 49ers

2017 Stats: 10 tackles, 1.0 TFL, 1 PBU

The 49ers- Cardinals game was very interesting, to say the least. Happy to say the Cards won 18-15 in overtime. and Mitchell recorded 2 tackles including a 0.5 tackles for loss.

Marquis Flowers, LB, New England Patriots

2017 Stats: 4 tackles

Flowers recorded a tackle during New England’s surprise 33-30 loss to Carolina.

Nick Folk, K, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

2017 Stats: FG — 6-for-8, 50-yd long; PAT — 5-for-7

Folk had a not-so-typical game against the New York Giants. He missed two field goals from 46 and 49 yards. He made his other two attempts, including a 34-yard game-winner.

Robert Golden, S, Pittsburgh Steelers

Golden did see the field against the Baltimore Ravens but did not record any stats. Pittsburgh easily won 26-9.

Scooby Wright, LB, Arizona Cardinals

The Cards signed Scooby from the practice squad to the active roster on Monday.

Nick Foles, QB, Philadelphia Eagles

Foles did not see any action in Philly’s 26-24 against the Los Angeles Chargers. He has yet to see any playing time this season.
