Arizona Wildcats safety Scottie Young Jr. makes Pro Football Focus’ All-Freshman Team in Week 2
The true freshman had a great outing vs. Houston
Only a handful of freshmen were better than Arizona Wildcats safety Scottie Young Jr. in Week 2.
Young made Pro Football Focus’ Week 2 All-Freshman team, checking in with a 82.4 grade, the 10th-best among freshmen on defense.

PFF grades players by watching their every play in a particular game and grading it on a scale of -2 to +2.
Young had seven tackles, including a tackle for loss, in Arizona’s 19-16 loss to the Houston Cougars.
The former three-star recruit won the starting free safety job after a strong fall camp and evidently is making good use of it.
Arizona’s secondary has been one of its strengths this season as Young, along with Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles, Jace Whittaker, and Dane Cruikshank, have been solid back there.
Arizona’s defense held Houston scoreless in the second half, and quarterback Kyle Allen was 10 for 12 for 40 yards and two interceptions after halftime.
Unfortunately Arizona’s offense couldn’t capitalize on the defense’s play, but at least the Wildcats are showing improvement in that area, considering how dismal the 2016 defense was.
And the addition of Young has only helped.
