Arizona basketball recruiting: Quentin Grimes no longer considering Wildcats

Makes sense with Jahvon Quinerly and Brandon Williams already in the fold

Five-star point guard prospect Quentin Grimes is no longer considering the Arizona Wildcats.

The 2018 recruit narrowed his list to four teams Wednesday, and it included the Kentucky Wildcats, Kansas Jayhawks, Marquette Golden Eagles, and Texas Longhorns.

Arizona, Baylor, and Texas A&M were previously among Grimes’ top options, but they didn’t make the cut this time around.

At one point, Arizona was one of three schools recruiting Grimes “the hardest”, but the Wildcats likely backed off once they snagged a commitment from Jahvon Quinerly, who gave UA a second point guard in its 2018 class along with Brandon Williams.

Grimes, the No. 17 player in the the country and No. 4 point guard, unofficially visited Arizona last October for the Red-Blue game.

Arizona has likely turned its attention to wings and frontcourt players, like Nassir Little, Bol Bol, and R.J. Barrett among others.

The Wildcats have three commitments in what is the nation’s top 2018 recruiting class, and will be signing anywhere from five to seven players when all is said and done.

So while Grimes may no longer be an option, Sean Miller and company still have several additions to make in this recruiting cycle.
