Arizona basketball recruiting: Marvin Bagley III won’t visit Wildcats after all

Arizona has no scholarships to offer

Marvin Bagley III was slated to visit the Arizona Wildcats in the first week of August, but those plans have been nixed, according to Adam Zagoria of ZagsBlog.com.

Bagley, the top recruit in 2018, is “likely” to reclassify to 2017 and the Wildcats already have 13 scholarship players on their roster for the 2017-18 season, meaning they have no room to add Bagley — and evidently aren’t willing or able to make room for him.

Bagley will now visit the UCLA Bruins on Monday and has already visited the Duke Blue Devils and USC Trojans.

Duke is widely believed to be the leader for Bagley, but he could shift the landscape of the Pac-12 significantly if he chooses USC or UCLA.

At minimum, it appears Bagley won’t be playing his college ball at Arizona unless his request to reclassify is turned down, but that seems unlikely at this point.

Arizona does have Devon Dotson on campus this week, as the four-star point guard is in Tucson for his official visit. The 2018 recruit is the No. 32 player in his class and No. 6 point guard.
