Arizona football recruiting SitRep: Wildcats add a commit, host visitors, and more

Things are picking up for the Wildcat football team

Things are starting to pick up for the Arizona Wildcats. The staff held an annual recruiting event this past weekend and locked up their eighth commitment of the class.

There’s that and more in this week’s SitRep:

Jhevon Hill

We’ll start off with Arizona’s newest commit, Jhevon Hill. Hill visited Tucson this weekend for the Wildcats’ recruiting event and gave UA his pledge. The former UCLA commit received his offer from the Wildcats after the staff visited him at his school during the spring evaluation period. Shortly after, Hill decommitted from the Bruins.

At 6-foot-3 and 185 pounds, Hill can play either safety or cornerback for UA. He is a nice pickup for Arizona. He has speed and loves to hit people, which is perfect for a defensive back.

Taron Madison

The talented running back from Beaumont, Calif. visited the Wildcats earlier in the week and left with an offer. However, the interest from both parties did not start with the visit. Madison attended a satellite camp hosted by Arizona in Redlands, Calif. in mid-June. Since the camp, special teams coach Brian Knorr has stayed in contact with Madison and that helped eventually lead to his offer.

Right now, the 2019 prospect does not have a decision timeframe in mind and is just enjoying the process for the time being. He is currently sitting at five offers with Washington, Oregon, Utah and San Jose State joining Arizona on his list. He likes all of his options and every school plays a special part for him so far.

Arizona hosted its annual end of July recruiting event called “The Closing.” Even earlier in the week the Wildcats hosted numerous visitors. Below is a list of visitors that came to campus throughout the week and weekend.

Recruiting Notes

  • On Sunday, Arizona Western running back Greg Bell released his top four, which included Arizona, Boise State, and Louisville. The tweet has since been deleted so I’m not sure what to think of that (I also can’t remember the fourth team he listed). Regardless, Arizona has made the Chula Vista, Calif. native a priority in this class and is in a good place with his recruitment.
