Arizona Wildcats center Nathan Eldridge has been named to the 2017 Rimington Trophy Watch List, it was announced Tuesday.
The Rimington Trophy is the award given to college football’s best center.
71 players made the watch list in total, seven of whom hail from the Pac-12. Aside from Eldridge, the other six from Pac-12 schools were Scott Quessenberry (UCLA Bruins), Addison Ooms (California Golden Bears), Jesse Burkett (Stanford Cardinal), Coleman Shelton (Washington Huskies), Jake Hanson (Oregon Ducks), Sumner Houston (Oregon State Beavers).
Eldridge, a redshirt sophomore, started in all 12 games for Arizona last season, becoming UA’s first freshman to start at center since 2006 when Blake Kerley started in 12 games.
Eldridge is one of four starters returning to Arizona’s offensive line in 2017, a unit that led the conference’s top rushing attack.
The Anthem, Ariz. native was a three-star recruit coming out of Boulder Creek High School in 2015.
The winner of the Rimington Trophy will be announced Jan. 13, 2018 in Lincoln, Neb.
