Arizona football: Wildcats add North Dakota State to 2022 schedule

The 2022 non-conference schedule is now done

Usually when the Arizona Wildcats schedule an FCS team, people are mad about the “cupcakes” appearing on the schedule.

Here’s your exception.

On Monday, the North Dakota State Bison announced that they will travel to Tucson to play Arizona in 2022.

The date will be September 17th, 2022, and is the third game against Pac-12 schools that NDSU now has scheduled. The Bison will play the Oregon Ducks in 2020 and the Colorado Buffaloes in 2024.

According to NBC Sports, NDSU has won their last six games against FBS teams. The Bison are 9-3 overall against FBS teams, including a win at No. 11 Iowa last year.

Adding NDSU to the 2022 schedule now gives Arizona three non-conference games for that particular year, which fills up their slate assuming the Pac-12 is still playing nine conference games a year then. The Wildcats open 2022 by playing the San Diego State Aztecs in San Diego, then hosting the Mississippi State Bulldogs before NDSU comes to Tucson. Assuming the programs stay relatively close to where they are now, this will be the toughest non-conference slate Arizona has played in some time.

This upcoming season, Arizona opens with home games against NAU and Houston before a Friday night road game at UTEP. That game in El Paso will begin at 7:15 PM Arizona time and will be broadcast on ESPN. The other games do not have kick times or broadcast details set yet.
