Arizona football recruiting: Two-star defensive tackle Chris Green building a relationship with Vince Amey

Arizona continues to look for size on the line

There is going to be a lot of uncertainty for the Arizona Wildcats as we get closer to National Signing Day. Loads of offers are still going out, kids will be taking their official visits, and more will continue to back off their commitments.

The staff is looking to add more defensive players, particularly up front after having to rely on walk-ons for much of the season, and having to go separate ways with Matt Leo and Elijah Watson.

Chris Green is on deck now, a 6-foot-2, 276 pound defensive tackle out of Los Angeles Senior High School. He was previously at Mater Dei, but made the switch for his senior season. Green currently holds offers to Hawaii and Nevada.

I spoke with him after he received his offer from Arizona.

“I have a relationship with Coach (Vince) Amey when he was the defensive line assistant,” Green said about his communication with the staff. “He has been the person I have been talking to during this process.”

“I was very happy when I got the offer. And the program is on the up and coming with a lot of young talented kids coming into the program.”

Arizona is looking to add more size on the defensive line and Green can help mitigate that issue. But for now, Green will be playing out his process and letting it ride out closer towards National Signing Day.

“Right now I am still talking to Nevada and Hawaii,” he explained. “And recruiting for me is picking up quickly but at this point I don't know who is close to offering me.”

He says he will try to make it out to a visit in January. He came to Tucson last March for the spring game, giving him a lot of familiarity with the program already.
