Territorial Cup 2016: Arizona QB Anu Solomon listed as questionable vs. ASU

There’s a good chance Brandon Dawkins will be starting at quarterback for the Wildcats against their in-state rival

The Arizona Wildcats’ season will end just as it began — with a question mark at quarterback.

The team’s injury report for Friday’s rivalry game against the Arizona State Sun Devils was released and Wildcats quarterback Anu Solomon is listed as a questionable with a foot injury.

Here is the full injury report:

Probable: None

Questionable: QB Anu Solomon (foot)

Doubtful: None

Out: RB Nick Wilson (knee), Gerhard de Beer (knee)

Last week against Oregon State, Solomon got his first start since the season opener on Sept. 3, but was removed from the game in the second quarter after taking a hit during sack.

Solomon, who was 6 of 11 for 82 yards at the time of the injury, did not return and Brandon Dawkins finished the game, as the Wildcats lost 42-17 in Corvallis.

Dawkins went 10 of 17 for 106 yards with a touchdown and an interception along with 88 rushing yards.

Like every game this season, we’ll have to wait until the first snap to know who’s actually starting at quarterback for Arizona.

Dawkins had success against the Sun Devils last year in his first instance of extended playing time at Arizona.

He was 16 of 30 for 305 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. He also ran for a touchdown and racked up 78 yards on the ground.

Also on the injury report are offensive tackle Gerhard de Beer and running back Nick Wilson. Both are listed as out, officially ending their seasons.

Wilson, Arizona’s featured running back, played in just five games, picking up 320 yards on 55 carries.

The battle for the Territorial Cup is slated for Friday 7:30 p.m. MST at Arizona Stadium. The game will be televised on ESPN.

Arizona (2-9) has dropped eight games in a row, while ASU (5-6) has lost its last five.
