Arizona basketball: Week 2 of college basketball told to us by Game of Thrones GIFs

There was plenty of action in college basketball this past week. We recap it inside.

The second week of college basketball is behind us and we had our first big upset last night when IPFW took down Tom Crean’s Indiana Hoosiers squad. Now I'm looking forward to the Duke-IPFW game (Indiana beat Kansas, Kansas beat Duke, so obviously Fort Wayne is top dog, right?)

Here’s the best of the best in the week that was in college basketball, told through Game of Thrones GIFs:

No. 2 Villanova squeaks by Western Michigan, 76-65

Nova’s not going to make it easy for their fans are they?

Fort Wayne lands upset of the year so far against No. 3 Indiana

All Indiana fans right now.

No. 7 Virginia prefers you don't score, beats Yale, 62-38 and Grambling State 90-34

While the opponents aren't the most noteworthy, Virginia’s defense is still one of the best (or the best) in college basketball.

No. 8 Arizona stays undefeated

Basketball is going much better than football

No.9 Xavier outlasts Missouri in OT, 83-82

Xavier fans after holding their breath for the entire overtime.

No. 12 Creighton is 5-0 and lighting up the scoreboard

The Bluejays are averaging 94 points per game, sixteenth in the nation.

No. 13 Oregon loses in Maui to Georgetown, 65-61

It’s okay Oregon, but I think Arizona’s the best team in the conference right now.

No. 14 UCLA continues to roll, has notched triple digits in three out of four games

UCLA’s offense is basically as potent as a dragon’s fire breath and is the top scoring team in the country.

No. 17 Saint Mary’s withstands Dayton’s second half surge, 61-57

When Dayton loses, we all lose. (You know, that whole Archie Miller connection.)

Bad week for Texas overall, No.22 Longhorns fall to Northwestern 77-58 and then Colorado 68-54

All Texas fans are trying to figure out what the heck is happening in basketball and football.

No. 23 Rhode Island downs Cincinnati, 76-71

At least this was a close and even affair.

No. 24 Michigan State haaaaaannngs on against Florida Golf Coast, 78-77

Sparty fans trying to hide the fact that their season isn’t going well.

It’s not going well for Kevin Ollie and Connecticut right now, even if they did barely beat Chaminade.

A wise idea.

ASU falls to Davidson 68-60

Hopefully a good precursor to Friday.

Games to look forward to this week:

No. 16 Wisconsin vs No. 4 North Carolina, Wednesday 7:30 p.m. MST

Santa Clara vs No. 8 Arizona, Thursday, 8:30 p.m. MST

No. 1 Kentucky vs Arizona State, Monday, 5 p.m. MST

No. 18 Syracuse vs No. 16 Wisconsin, Tuesday, November 29, 5:30 p.m. MST

No. 24 Michigan State vs No. 6 Duke, Tuesday, November 29, 7:30 p.m. MST

Note: there will be other games this weekend but due to tournament style play, we don't know the matchups yet.
