Arizona basketball recruiting: Wildcats plan to add one more recruit to the 2017 class

Arizona already has the No. 2 class in the country, but it’s not done yet

The Arizona Wildcats already have the second-ranked recruiting class in the country for 2017, but they are not done adding to it.

Head coach Sean Miller said Thursday that the program is planning to add one more recruit to the class.

Miller said the position of the player he plans to add is still to be determined.

The two most likely candidates to be added are Brian Bowen and Brandon McCoy. Miller travelled to Michigan to watch Bowen play on Wednesday, and ESPN’s Jeff Borzello reported the Wildcats “could be the favorite”.

Bowen, a five-star recruit, is the No. 17 prospect in the 2017 class, according to 247Sports.

The 6-foot-7 wing plays at La Lumiere School in Saginaw, Michigan. Bowen visted Tucson on Oct. 29.

Meanwhile, McCoy is the No. 8 prospect in the class, and he visited Arizona on Oct. 8. The 6-foot-10 power forward from San Diego is deciding between Arizona, Oregon, Michigan State among others, and the 247Sports’ Crystal Ball sees the Ducks as the favorite, with Arizona second.

Aside from Bowen and McCoy, Arizona is also in the mix for several other recruits.

Arizona already has four recruits signed in the class, with the most notable recruit being DeAndre Ayton, the class’ No. 1 player.

The others are four-star prospects Ira Lee, Alex Barcello, and Brandon Randolph. Randolph, a 6-foot-6 shooting guard, is the 38th-ranked player in the class, while Lee, a 6-foot-8 forward, and Barcello, a 6-foot-2 point guard, are 58th and 80th, respectively.

When all is said and done, Miller believes this could be his best recruiting class yet.
