Stanford vs. Arizona: Wildcats unveil uniforms for clash with Cardinal

The last time Arizona wore these? The 2014 Fiesta Bowl

Fresh off their bye week, the Arizona Wildcats plan to wear a fresh uniform combination this Saturday when they host the Stanford Cardinal as part of Homecoming weekend.

The Wildcats will be wearing blue helmets, red jerseys, and red pants against the Cardinal, a combination they haven’t worn since the 2014 Fiesta Bowl loss to Boise State.

Here is safety Tellas Jones and linebacker Paul Magloire Jr. making the announcement:

Arizona is 2-5 all-time while wearing this uniform combination.

The Wildcats (2-5 overall, 0-4 Pac-12) have lost four straight games heading into Saturday’s matchup, as well four straight contests to Stanford (4-3 overall, 2-3 Pac-12). Last season, the Cardinal routed the Wildcats 55-17 in Palo Alto, California.

Keller Chryst will start at quarterback for Stanford, making his first start of the season, replacing an ineffective Ryan Burns, who threw three interceptions in Stanford’s 10-5 loss to Colorado last week.

Chryst has appeared in six games for the Cardinal, going 7-for-18 for 63 yards with an interception through the air, while rushing for 11 yards on 11 attempts.

Brandon Dawkins seems likely to start at quarterback for Arizona. Dawkins missed Arizona’s last game — versus USC on Oct. 15 — with a concussion, but he’s been cleared to return from the head injury and has been practicing this week.

Meanwhile, UA starting running back Nick Wilson is out with a long-term injury.

Kickoff for Saturday’s game — the 99th Homecoming game in UA history — is set for 8 p.m., and the game will be televised on Fox Sports 1.
