Arizona Wildcats in the NFL: Gronk is starting to explode

A couple of former Wildcats make a big impact while more return from injuries

Week 6 in the NFL is in the books and a lot of former Arizona Wildcats were again in action. One Wildcat had a career game and, at the same time, got into an argument with a former college rival. Others had decent games coming off of injuries.

Now let’s take a look at the players.

Rob Gronkowski, TE (#87), New England Patriots

2016 Stats: 13 rec, 282 yds, 1 TD

Gronk’s season has been rejuvenated with the reinstatement of Tom Brady. On Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals, Gronk had a career day. He snagged six catches totaling a career-high 162 yards and a touchdown. He also got into it with a former Sun Devil and known dirty player Vontaze Burfict. The Patriots ended up beating the Bengals 35-17.

Ka’Deem Carey, RB (#25), Chicago Bears

2016 Stats: 13 car, 59 yds, 0 TD; 2 rec, 18 yds, 0 TD

After battling a hamstring injury and getting limited reps so far this year, Carey finally had a solid game. He had a good showing, rushing for a team-high 50 yards on nine carries, his longest run being 16 yards. However, the Bears lost a close one to the Jacksonville Jaguars, 17-16.

Robert Golden, S (#21), Pittsburgh Steelers

2016 Stats: 24 tackles, 1 PBU, 1 fumble rec, 1 stuff

Golden has been battling a hamstring injury the past couple of weeks but he was back on the field Sunday against the Miami Dolphins. Overall, the Steeler defense played a not-so-good game, however, Golden did have a solid night. He racked up seven tackles in Pittsburgh’s 30-15 loss to Miami.

Will Parks, S (#34), Denver Broncos

2016 Stats: 6 tackles, 1 INT, 1 PBU, 1 fumble rec

Parks is continuing to have himself a solid rookie season. He has played well whenever he has been in. On Thursday, his Broncos had a rough game. The San Diego Chargers managed to actually finish a full game and win 21-13 over Denver. Parks finished the game with two tackles and a fumble recovery.

Brooks Reed, LB/DE (#50), Atlanta Falcons

2016 Stats: 6 tackles and 1 forced fumble

Reed suffered a shoulder injury earlier in the year, but has since come back to the field for the Falcons. On Sunday, Atlanta traveled to Seattle hoping to keep up their ridiculous string of victories that no one thought was possible. Although they played a tough game, the Falcons fell to the Seahawks 26-24. Reed racked up two tackles and a forced fumble.

Trevin Wade, DB (#31), New York Giants

2016 Stats: 10 tackles and 1 PBU

Wade has been on and off the field for the Giants, and it’s not because of injury. He has played inconsistently this year and that has caused his playing time to drop. His team faced off against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday and won a nail-bitter 27-23. Wade had a costly pass interference call, but luckily for him, the Ravens didn’t do anything with it. He finished the game with two tackles.

Nick Folk, K (#2), New York Jets

2016 Stats: FG: 11-for-12, long of 48 yards; PAT: 8-for-9

Folk’s Jets took on the Arizona Cardinals on Monday Night Football. The Jets’ offense was dismal and as a result Folk didn’t get many opportunities to make an impact. He did have one field goal for 39 yards. The Cards stomped the Jets 28-3.

Marquis Flowers, LB (#53), Cincinnati Bengals

2016 Stats: 4 tackles

Flowers did play in the Bengals’ loss to New England, however, did not obtain any stats.

Earl Mitchell, DT (#90), Miami Dolphins

2016 Stats: 1 tackle

Mitchell is still out of action due to his calf injury.

Nick Foles, QB (#4), Kansas City Chiefs

Foles once again did not play in the Chiefs’ 26-10 win against the Oakland Raiders.
