Anu Solomon injury: Arizona QB not dressed, wearing knee brace on left leg

The Wildcats’ normal starting QB is out against Grambling

After being listed as questionable on this week’s injury report, Arizona Wildcats starting quarterback Anu Solomon is not dressed for his team’s home opener against Grambling State.

Solomon did take part in the team’s Wildcat Walk while wearing the brace on his left knee. But when the Wildcats came out to begin pregame warmups, he was not dressed out with the other quarterbacks.

This means that Brandon Dawkins will get his first career collegiate start Saturday night. The redshirt sophomore played in two games in the 2015 season. He got limited, late-game action against NAU, and then began to lead a comeback in the regular season finale against ASU before throwing two late interceptions.

Throughout the offseason, Rich Rodriguez has said that Solomon and Dawkins were "co-starters", and they did split first-team reps pretty evenly during fall camp.

Arizona and Grambling State are set to kick off at 8 PM PT.
