Sonoran Hot Reads: Kevin Cordes finishes 4th in 100-meter breaststroke final

The former Wildcat almost earned a medal in Rio

One of 13 Arizona Wildcats in Rio got a chance at medaling on Sunday night, and UA swimmer Kevin Cordes came just about as close as you can get without actually reaching the medal stand. He touched the wall in 59.22 seconds, finishing fourth, just 0.35 seconds after bronze medalist and fellow Team USA member Cody Miller. "I’m competing in the Olympic Games representing the U.S. and I made the final," Cordes told the Chicago Tribune. "I can’t ask for much more."

- Cordes is also the next UA athlete to compete, as he swims the 200-meter breaststroke on Tuesday

- The Arizona alum with the most success on Sunday though was Jim Furyk, who shot the first-ever 58 in a PGA Tour event
