Sonoran Hot Reads: Jett Bandy carving out an MLB career

A former Wildcat is starting to make waves in the Big Leagues

Jett Bandy has spent a majority of the 2016 season at the Major League level with the Angels, but things are starting to click at just the right time. The former Arizona catcher notched a career-high four hits on Wednesday. In addition to his success, his personality has earned him quite the reputation, and his collage/shrine thing in his locker only adds to that. He recalled a hot day at Sancet with Andy Lopez that may have lit the fire under Bandy for the rest of his career:

Jett Bandy sat in a chair in the outfield, while his University of Arizona teammates ran.

And ran. And ran. And ran.

Ran till some of them threw up.

And Bandy sat there, with cold bottles of water under the warm Arizona sun. As he watched his friends suffer – all because he had skipped a sociology class – he learned a lesson that sticks with him to this day.

"I’ve got to start getting stuff into gear," Bandy recalled. "I’ve got to do the right things. ... It was letting me know that my actions don’t only affect me, but also my teammates. I learned quick I had to go to class."

It’s cool to see Jett thriving with an MLB club, and hopefully he’ll make himself a nice career in the Majors
