Sonoran Hot Reads: Stan Van Gundy praises Stanley Johnson’s Summer League play

Stanimal is doing exactly what he should be doing in Orlando right now

Stanley Johnson continued to impress at the Orlando Summer League on Tuesday, as he dropped in a team-high 16 points for the Detroit Pistons. Not only is he putting up big numbers, but he’s also doing the things that head coach Stan Van Gundy wanted him to be doing during the summer.

"He’s doing exactly what he should be doing during the summer. Just what we talked about," Van Gundy said after Tuesday’s action. "He’s had a lot of chances where he could’ve just driven the ball to his right and scored, but you can see him almost consciously trying to get to his left hand, which is probably taking him out of his rhythm, but is great for him to work on. I like his approach in how he’s trying to play."
