Gavin Robertson to Arizona: Safety recruit signs with Wildcats, spurns hometown Northwest schools

One of Arizona's most underrated players in this class, an absolute steal for the Wildcats

The Arizona Wildcats have found themselves a hard-hitting safety in Gavin Robertson, a 3-star prospect out of Auburn, Washington. Another long-time commit, Robertson committed while on campus in late July and has been pretty underrated in my eyes. He had interest from Oregon State, Washington and Washington State prior to his commitment.

Robertson had been a 2-star prospect for quite some time, but made the jump up to a lower tier 3-star after his senior season. While he might be overlooked now, I think he's someone with an incredibly high ceiling. Roberston is likely to project at the bandit safety position, serving as a strong safety or weakside linebacker. I see him as a great replica of Jared Tevis or Marquis Flowers.

Safeties at Arizona usually the see field relatively early, and while I don't see Robertson coming in as an immediate impact player, he's someone who two or three years down the road will be a great starter for Arizona. He'll be one that will bring the lumber on an unsuspecting receiver running across the middle of the field.

I was able to speak to him when he was offered by Arizona, and he said that he tries to emulate his game after Ed Reed and Cam Chancellor. For more on that interview, you can check it out here. His senior year highlights are below.
