Pac-12 Basketball Power Rankings: Oregon solidifies hold on top spot

The Ducks are clearly the best team in the conference right now

We've reached the halfway point, and one team has sort of put themselves ahead of the rest of the Pac, and that's the Oregon Ducks.

After a road sweep in Arizona, Oregon is alone atop the Pac-12 standings, and is the unanimous No. 1 in our Pac-12 power poll.

We had seven voters this week to set the new rankings. One point is awarded for 1st place votes, two points for second and so on.

Here's how we have the Pac-12 this week:

Ranking (Change from last week's ranking) Team (Pac-12 record) Points
1 (0) Oregon Ducks (7-2) 7
2 (+1) USC Trojans (6-3) 15
3 (-1) Arizona Wildcats (5-4) 25
4 (0) Utah Utes (6-3) 27
5 (+1) Colorado Buffaloes (6-3) 33
T-6 (+1) Washington Huskies (6-3) 48
T-6 (-2) California Golden Bears (4-5) 48
8 (0) UCLA Bruins (4-5) 51
T-9 (0) Stanford Cardinal (4-5) 68
T-9 (+1) Oregon State Beavers (3-6) 68
11 (0) Arizona State Sun Devils (2-7) 73
12 (0) Washington State Cougars (1-8) 84

The two things we agreed on: Oregon is on top, and WSU is on bottom.

There are also three clear tiers in the conference set up this week.

In the top tier you have: Oregon, USC, Arizona, Utah and Colorado

In the second tier you have: Washington, Cal and UCLA

Then bringing up the rear is: Stanford, OSU, ASU and WSU.

Biggest mover this week was Cal, simply because they are incapable of winning road games. Luckily for them, the Bears play at home this week, hosting rival Stanford.

In other Pac-12 matchups, the Arizonas travel to Washington, the Oregon schools host the Mountain schools, and USC hosts UCLA. Oregon has an enormous opportunity in front of themselves this weekend to move several schools way in their rearview mirror.

Can they do it? It certainly benefits them that they're playing at home, but Utah is also the hottest team in the conference, so it should be a good weekend of hoops up and down the Pacific coast.
