Arizona football recruiting: Recapping a busy weekend of official visits

A weekend filled with a lot of recruiting news as we approach signing day

The Arizona Wildcats coaching staff had quite a large recruiting weekend, the first of many this month. Here's a quick recap of what happened this weekend in Tucson. I'll be talking to those who visited throughout the week and will have more before the next wave of recruits roll into Tucson the following weekend.

Of course, as always, feel free to drop any questions below in the comments or holler at me on Twitter.

3-star running back Jessie Britt decommits from Western Kentucky during Tucson visit

In the last roundup, I said that I felt good about Britt given the timeline of events. The first step was getting him on campus, the next was him decommitting from WKU. Both of those can be checked off. Really unsure if he'll be taking any more visits, and I would imagine that Arizona is his likely landing spot on signing day.

I'll have more on him later in the week. But for now, I would expect him to commit to Arizona relatively soon, possibly before I even get my interview up with him.

Arizona commits Sean Riley and DeVaughn Cooper visit Syracuse

The two Narbonne teammates and Arizona commits took a very late trip to Syracuse together after being offered just a few weeks ago.

Sean Riley has officially decommitted from Arizona, and committed to Syracuse. As for DeVaughn Cooper, I'm really curious as to how this official came up. But it's hard for me to believe that both leave Arizona for Syracuse.

3-star linebacker Kaelin Himphill has Arizona in his top five

To no one's surprise, Arizona made the cut for the 3-star linebacker. He said he was going to trim his list to five after the dead period and these are the five that you could have expected. When I first spoke to him, he was very excited about the 3-3-5, having great familiarity with it through high school. It's not clear what Marcel Yates' scheme will look like, so that changes things. He was very excited about his Utah offer and Oregon State seems to be high on his list as well.

3-star athlete TaDarryl Marshall enjoys visit to west coast

Arizona had the 43rd-ranked recruit in the nation in town and one time Tennessee commit, TaDarryl Marshall. He hails from Alabama, checking in at 6-0 180lb. and seems to have a top three of Arizona, Illinois and Kentucky. He'll be visiting Kentucky on the 22nd and Illinois on the 29th. Given those two schools, I like Arizona's chances immediately. I'll be talking to him later this week and will have more on him.

Rhett Rodriguez commits to Arizona

Rich Rodriguez' son commits to Arizona, giving the Wildcats yet another scholarship quarterback on the roster. He'll come in with the 2017 recruiting class, so he has another high school season to wrap up at Catalina Foothills. Stay tuned for more on him as well.

Justin Holt enjoys visit with former Salpointe teammate

Long time Arizona commit Justin Holt was on his official visit. He's recovering from a broken fibula. I spoke to him after the big defensive staff coaching changes and he said he should be 100% by the time he graduates from Salpointe.

3-star defensive end Josh Allen back in Tucson

The former Arizona commit was back in Tucson for his official visit. He still needs to take his visits to Miami and UCLA, and then it's decision time for the 3rd-ranked junior college defensive end in the nation. Still a hard read, especially with his upcoming visits. I honestly have no idea where he'll end up anymore. Hopefully I can get more info when I talk to him later this week.

Paul Magloire on the lead. From one JUCO product to another.

3-star linebacker Jacob Colacion satisfied with his decision

Also a visitor on campus, Jacob Colacion reaffirms his commitment, if anyone had any doubts about him for whatever reason. He's recovering from a torn ACL and will arrive this summer.

3-star safety Clifford Chattman giving Arizona a good look

This is one of the most intriguing prospects left on Arizona's board. He enjoyed his time in Tucson this weekend, and will head to Florida State and Texas A&M before announcing his decision. I'm very excited to talk to him and learn more about his recruitment process. I had previously thought that Arizona was on the outside looking in, but I feel like Arizona is in a fairly good position to land Chattman. Not confident that he will commit, but still a pretty decent shot given his visit.

Chattman officially has Arizona in his final four schools:

3-star defensive end and FAU commit Fransisco Allen taking official to Arizona

I was able to talk to Fransisco Allen this weekend, who was recently offered by Arizona. He's been committed to FAU for quite some time now, but told me he has scheduled an official visit to Arizona for this upcoming weekend. Keep an eye out for more on Allen later this week as well.
