Report: Rich Rodriguez interviews at South Carolina

This is getting weird

Early in the day on Friday, it seemed like Will Muschamp was about to lock down the South Carolina head coaching job.

But Gamecock A.D. Ray Tanner is a busy man on Friday, as he had three guys in to interview for the job according to Sports Illustrated's Pete Thamel:

This is an interesting group of guys to have in to interview to go along with Muschamp. The Auburn defensive coordinator is reportedly not going to be back at Auburn no matter what next year. He also has the blessing from previous South Carolina head coach Steve Spurrier, and has also been reaching out to guys like Marcus Lattimore to fill his staff once named the head coach at South Carolina.

The problem is that he has not been named the head coach yet, and Ray Tanner is at least going through the full interview process.

Arizona announced Friday afternoon that Rodriguez and Greg Byrne will have media availability Sunday afternoon at the team's banquet. So that could get interesting. It does happen every year, as Arizona should know which bowl game it is going to by then.

Also, Virginia is out the list of schools to watch as they hired BYU head coach Bronco Mendenhall, which impacts Arizona next year, as they are scheduled to play the Cougars in Glendale on September 3rd.
