Arizona football recruiting: 2016 3-star defensive tackle Jabari Watson de-commits from Wildcats

In the midst of a busy recruiting week, Arizona loses a commitment

The Arizona Wildcats got some news late on Thursday night, as 3-star defensive tackle, Jabari Watson, out of Fontana, CA, de-committed from the program. Watson is a 6-2, 266lb defensive tackle who has a lot of athleticism. He was the recruit that had committed to Arizona prior to ever stepping foot on campus, but said that his relationship with the staff was what made him so comfortable with his commitment.

I got a chance to talk to him after his decision, and it seems as if Arizona backed off a bit in their recruitment. He said that he hadn't talked to staff nearly as much as he used to, and that they wouldn't be setting up an official, or in-home visit. Now, he says that Boise State is his leader, and Fresno State is in the mix as well. Boise State was seen as the main competition for Watson back on his decision date.

Now, some people might insist it's because of the coaching rumors, but that just doesn't seem to be the case here. And Arizona shouldn't be too concerned as far as defensive linemen depth is concerned, as it's still bringing in three defensive linemen in this 2016 class, and there's still more recruiting to be done.

3-star defensive tackle Cameron Murray got a visit from the coaching staff, and Arizona seems to be back in the mix for 4-star JUCO defensive end Josh "JJ" Allen, who decommitted from Arizona earlier last month. I'll have more on both of those recruits coming up here in the next couples of days, so be on the lookout for that.
