Sonoran Hot Reads: Mitch Lightfoot's recruitment heats up

Everyone's hot on the trail of an Arizona native

The guy who seems to have emerged as one of Arizona's top recruiting targets in 2016 is Gilbert's Mitch Lightfoot, who used to live in Tucson. Lightfoot hosted four major programs for in-home visits this weekend, and is headed for Lawrence this Thursday

Football

- Rich Rodriguez called the team "gritty" after winning by 24 points at Nevada on Saturday

- Tre Tyler was forced to play a majority of the game on Saturday. He called it "unreal" and a "humbling experience"

- ESPN has Arizona 4th in their new Pac-12 power rankings. In ESPN's overall power rankings though, the Wildcats dropped a spot from 19th to 20th...what? Also, Arizona jumped to 19th in the coaches poll, and 20th in the AP poll

- The Arizona coaching staff selected their players of the week, and they were similar to our choices

- Some bad news out of Utah as two of their players were shot. Luckily, it seems like they're going to be ok

- Nick Foles had a pretty nice touchdown pass to send the Rams game into overtime, where they eventually took down the Seahawks

Other sports

- The undefeated fall is over, as both Volleyball and soccer dropped matches this weekend. Soccer's was unfortunate, as it came at the hands of a lightning delay

Men's golf is in Pebble Beach for the St. Mary's Invitational this week

Tucson news

- Pima football is 4-0 for the first time ever. Probably because I go to school there now

- A woman was killed on the southside in a hit and run

- On the other end of the spectrum, this Tucson police offer saved a man from getting hit by a train
