Junior College corner Elijah Battle names Arizona as the leader in his recruitment

A corner prospect who could be Arizona bound

Arizona hasn't been targeting too many corners for 2016, and they already have 3-star Isaiah Hayes, ranked No. 77 among all corners in the nation. But for now, Arizona is the leader for junior college corner, Elijah Battle.

Originally from Barringer High School (Newark, NJ), Battle found himself at Dodge City Community College (Dodge City, KS). He's picking up some attention and has offers to Arizona, Houston, and Ohio, among others. His offer list proves how great the Arizona scouting and recruiting team is, as Arizona is his first power five conference offer.

As a 2-star recruit, the Arizona coaching staff went out to Dodge City to go pay Battle a visit. "Coach Tony Dews came to Dodge City Community College in the spring and I talked to him and Coach Lockwood more and more throughout the spring," Battle said on how Arizona came in contact with him. "It felt good getting the offer from them. Arizona is a good school playing in one of the best conferences in college football," he added. "With all the work I put in, it's good that it's starting to pay off."

As for now, Arizona is at the top of Battle's list. "Arizona is at the top right now, then Houston and Arkansas State," when asked about other schools in the mix. "I like the coaching staff and what they have going on there and the defensive scheme, how it confuses the offense with man, zone, blitz and things like that," he said about Arizona.

Elijah Battle hopes to set up a visit very soon, as he doesn't wait to wait until the last minute to commit. A commitment from Battle might not come in the near future, but I would expect to see him sporting the Block A next season.
