Louisiana starting to become recruiting territory for Rich Rodriguez

A lot of prospects from the Bayou state have been making their way to Tucson lately

This past year, Arizona opened up a huge recruiting pipeline in the state of Louisiana. Ties held by offensive coordinator Calvin Magee started to build relationships in the area. It really started becoming a hot spot when Arizona earned a bid for the AdvoCare V100 Bowl in 2013, held in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Arizona has landed five Louisiana products in the 2015 recruiting class, two of which come from Cavalry Baptist (Shreveport, Louisiana). This is the same high school as 2016 quarterback Shea Patterson, who committed to Arizona his sophomore year, but later de-committed and flipped to Ole Miss.

Arizona is also in the mix for another Cavalry Baptist product in 3-star safety Chanse Sylvie, who currently holds offers to Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Tennessee, and TCU, among others.

But it's not just Calvary Baptist that has been a hot spot for Arizona. Warren Easton will be sending two of their products to Tucson this summer in Kendall Franklin and Darrell Clark. Arizona has also offered their high school teammate Clyde Leflore. He holds offers to Clemson, LSU, Texas A&M, and UCLA, among others.

These schools are championship-caliber powerhouses. Calvary Baptist has won the Louisiana State Championship the past two years. Warren Easton lost in the 4A state championship game by one in 2014, just one year after they fell short in the quarterfinals.

For 2016, Arizona has offered a total of six recruits from the state of Louisiana, including the latest Andraez and Rodarius Williams. Louisiana is one of the top states for college football talent, and if Rich Rodriguez can continue to build relationships with these winnings programs and eventually branch out, that can lead to some big-time recruits down the road.
