Arizona basketball: Allonzo Trier named to USA Basketball U19 Training Camp roster

Trier will have a chance to train with USA Basketball for the second-consecutive year.

USA Basketball announced the training camp roster for the U19 team on Tuesday, and Arizona Wildcats signee Allonzo Trier will join head coach Sean Miller in Colorado Springs for two weeks.

Trier was a member of the U18 team that won the gold medal at the FIBA Americas U18 tournament in 2014. He is one of ten players that is on the 24-man training camp roster with gold medal experience at the international level.

The other returning gold medalists are: Isaiah Briscoe, Jalen Brunson, Terrance Ferguson, Harry Giles, Josh Jackson, Diamond Stone, Caleb Swanigan, Jayson Tatum, and Seventh Woods.

The U19 training camp will take place from June 12-26 at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. The final roster will be composed of 12 players. In 11 tries, the U.S. has taken home the gold five times, and have settled for silver three times. This could be the first time a nation has won back-to-back gold medals since the Americans defended their 1979 title in 1983.

Last season, Trier averaged 26.4 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game en route to being named a McDonald's All-American (21st in Arizona history), as well as being one of five finalists for the Naismith Boys High School Player of the Year trophy.

With this extra experience under coach Miller during the summer, it can only help Trier get used to his coaching habits, and prepare him even more for the 2015-16 season at Arizona.
