Arizona offers 2017 5-star offensive tackle Austin Jackson

Rich Rodriguez going after the top 2017 talent in Arizona

Rich Rodriguez has been focusing a bit more on the in-state recruiting as of late, continuing to recruit into 2017. In the last month, he's offered four of the top in-state recruits, the most recent being Isaiah Pola-Mao.

This time, Arizona has offered Austin Jackson, the No. 1 rated recruit in the state of Arizona, ranked No. 5 among all offensive tackles in the nation, No. 33 among all recruits nationally.

Out of North Canyon High School (Phoenix, AZ), Jackson holds offers from Arizona State, Michigan, Utah and Washington among others. At 6-5 260lbs, he's actually considered to be one of the smaller offensive linemen. He is a very lean 260lbs and definitely has the frame to add some more weight. His sophomore year highlights are below.

Rich Rodriguez was able to land the No. 2 recruit out of Arizona in the 2015 recruiting class with Keenan Walker, who also happens to be an offensive lineman. Walker was ranked No. 10 among all offensive tackles in the nation, coming in at 6-6 280. He suffered an ACL tear this past year, and will likely redshirt this coming fall.

We'll see what kind of response Rich Rodriguez gets from Jackson with this offer. Rodriguez has always said that it's hard to get guys to even take a visit, but once they come, they love it. We're hoping that Arizona got the attention of Jackson early enough in his recruiting process and is interested in staying close to home, making time to visit Tucson no less than two hours down the road.
