James Kaprielian, David Berg throw combined no-hitter vs. Arizona

Pretty good stuff from the Bruins

For the first time in the modern era, the UCLA Bruins threw a no-hitter.

But it was a little more than a typical no-hitter.

Star pitcher James Kaprielian worked nine innings of no-hit ball for the Bruins, but the game was not over there thanks to Arizona's Cody Hamlin and Tyger Talley.

UCLA was also unable to record a run in regulation, as Hamlin went 8 1/3 innings of scoreless ball, surrendering eight hits and a walk. Tyger Talley came on to close out the ninth and to force extra innings.

UCLA decided to pull Kaprielian after nine innings, opting for closer David Berg in the 10th. Berg kept the no-no alive, working a perfect top half of the 10th.

Talley gave up a walk and a single to put runners on the corners and one out for Kevin Kramer. Kramer then lifted a fly ball out to centerfielder Justin Behnke, allowing the run to score from third to give the Bruins the walk-off no-hitter.

If there was a pitcher that was going to do this to Arizona this year, it was Kaprielian. The guy's an absolute stud. He's going to be a first-round draft pick this year. And then you add Berg into the equation, who might finish his career as the NCAA all-time leader in saves.

It was just meant to be, and congrats to UCLA on their accomplishment.

This game wasn't a complete loss, as it gave us this video of a pop up bouncing off Kevin Newman's head and into Jared Oliva's glove.
