Sean Miller taking over as U19 USA Basketball coach

Sean Miller. America.

With former Florida Gator head coach Billy Donovan making the jump to the NBA as the new Oklahoma City Thunder coach, Sean Miller will step up as the head coach of the U19 USA Basketball team.

Sean Miller's staff will feature his brother, Archie Miller, head coach at the University of Dayton, as well as Justin Kokoskie, Arizona Basketball's head athletic trainer.

"Rejoining my brother Archie as part of this staff is special," Miller said in a statement. "We worked together for two seasons at the University of Arizona before he left to become the head coach at Dayton. Obviously, we have great familiarity with each other and share a similar philosophy with the game."

As if Sean Miller wasn't one of the best recruiters in the nation, this gives Arizona an even bigger advantage. Now as the big cheese, Miller will be able to work with the top recruits in a practice environment, with the hopes of getting them to Tucson. With coach Miller at the helm, he'll be able to show these recruits exactly how he'll coach, develop and mentor them at Arizona.

Having Kokoskie on staff will also be incredibly advantageous. Arizona has one of the best training programs in the nation. This past year, 7-footer Kaleb Tarczewski added nine pounds to his frame, but dropped his body fat percentage to about 5.6%. Meanwhile, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson just checked into the NBA Combine with one of the lowest body fat percentages of 5%. The development of Parker Jackson-Cartwright from his senior year of high school to the beginning of his freshman year at Arizona is astounding as well. We've also seen this before with Derrick Williams, Solomon Hill and Aaron Gordon.

Serving as an assistant to Billy Donovan, Sean Miller was able to work with Stanley Johnson prior to his freshman season. On that roster was Allonzo Trier, who will be playing under Miller this fall. The list also includes Stephen Zimmerman, Justise Winslow, Chase Jeter and Isaiah Briscoe, all of whom had Arizona in their top five list of schools.

It's only a matter of time until invitations, tryouts and cuts are made before the final U19 USA Basketball roster is complete. Expect Sean Miller to go after only the best, with a few guys who have yet to commit, in hopes of getting them to Arizona.
