Arizona football recruiting: Wildcats offer Long Beach City College safety London Iakopo
An up-and-coming junior college product has been offered by Arizona
Arizona is continuing the trend of offering junior college products on the defensive side of the ball. A trend we saw in Rich Rod's 2015 recruiting class with early enrollees Anthony Fotu and Paul Magloire, as well as Dane Cruikshank and Timothy Hamilton. The latest offer goes to freshman safety London Iakopo of the Long Beach City College Vikings, checking in at 6-0 205lbs.
Iakopo came out of Mater Dei High School (Santa Ana, CA) unranked, finding a home at Long Beach. In his freshman year for the Vikings, he played in 11 games, finishing with two interceptions and 66 tackles, six of which were for a loss.
Arizona becomes his first Division I offer and most likely won't be his last. His freshman year highlights are below.
Iakopo is a potential fit at the bandit position, a hybrid linebacker-safety spot, a role played by Jared Tevis. That position is expected to be filled in by the duo of Tellas Jones and Paul Magloire in 2015. Iakopo is definitely OKG material, but expect his recruiting to heat up throughout his sophomore campaign.
