LSU was the top-ranked team in the country for much of the season, but a late-season skid dropped them to the five-seed overall. Last week, it took them all seven games to advance out of their regional, much like Arizona. The Tigers entered Sunday needing to beat ASU twice in a day, and they did so.

The Tigers have the 7th-best team ERA in the nation, which is troubling considering how poor Arizona's offense looked last weekend. But LSU is not a particularly good fielding team (123rd overall, 231st in double plays turned), so as long as the Wildcats can get the ball in play, they have a chance.

The two teams played earlier this season, and LSU won 4-3 in a game held in Palm Springs. Arizona is still 10-4 all-time against the Tigers after that defeat. The Wildcats out-hit them 9-7 in the game earlier this year, while Michelle Floyd threw four innings before giving way to Nancy Bowling for the final two frames. Only four LSU players had hits in that game, and both stud players Bianka Bell and Sahvanna Jaquish were held hitless by Arizona pitching.

That'll be key, as both Bell and Jaquish have hit 17 home runs this season, which is tied for the team lead. Bailey Landry is another name to keep an eye on, as she's hitting a potent .431 this year.

It should be an evenly-matched series, and one that's fun and stressful to watch. Let's hope Arizona makes it back to its first WCWS since 2010 on this trip to Baton Rouge.
