Arizona basketball recruiting: Former Sun Devil commit Brendan Bailey receives offer from Arizona
Arizona going after a top 20 small forward
Arizona has been able to attract and produce plenty of great forwards over the last few years. Solomon Hill, Derrick Williams, Aaron Gordon, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, Stanley Johnson; whether they stayed all four years like Hill, or made Arizona a pit stop on the way to the NBA a la Aaron Gordon and Stanley Johnson, Sean Miller is no stranger to great talent on the wing.
This leads Arizona to one of their latest offers in 6-7 180lb Brendan Bailey, who is the 18th ranked small forward in the nation and 87th overall out of American Fork, Utah. Bailey originally committed to Arizona State back in November, but decided to open up his recruiting process in March after seeing Arizona State's second half collapse in the Pac-12 Tournament to 12-seed USC. Bailey has been in contact with ASU, meeting with new head coach Bobby Hurley and a visit from a few assistant coaches as well.
Bailey currently holds offers to Arizona, Arizona State, BYU, UConn, Gonzaga and Utah. Because of the coaching change, there's still a chance that Bailey ends up at Arizona State, who is still probably the leader for Bailey at this point. But he should start to pick up more attention as the recruiting process starts to pick up for the class of 2016, which could phase Arizona State out of the picture.
As of now, it's unclear as to whether or not Arizona has Bailey at the top of their boards. Considering the other recruits in the class of 2016, this offer could have little to no meaning. Highlights from his showing at the Adidas Gauntlet are below.
