A look at Arizona softball’s 2021 recruiting class

The Arizona Wildcats softball team will ink their 2021 recruiting class in a couple of months.

But before we get to signing day, let’s take an early look at the four-player group, which will have to help replace Arizona’s seven star-studded seniors.

OC Batbusters

Elish is a two-way player from Crown Point, Indiana, though she plays travel ball for the Orange County Batbusters, one of the clubs Arizona recruits the most.

Elish doesn’t have any 2020 stats (it looks like Crown Point’s season never started due to COVID) but in 2018-19 she hit .328 with seven extra-base hits (no homers), 11 RBI and two stolen bases. In the circle, she went 14-2 with a 2.01 ERA and 102 strikeouts in 94 innings. Batters only hit .190 against her.

Softball America ranks her as the No. 20 player in her class. FloSoftball has her at No. 40.

If her last name sounds familiar, it’s because Madi is the younger sister of Texas (and former Oregon) superstar Miranda Elish, an elite two-way player who was the 2020 Softball America National Player of the Year.

Paige Dimler, 1B/OF

Dimler attends Rancho Buena Vista High School in the San Diego area. She hit .643 with four homers, five doubles and five stolen bases in her COVID-shortened 2020 season. The year before, she hit .540 with 12 homers, three triples, six doubles, 39 RBI and 21 stolen bases. Dimler rarely strikes out, fanning just 11 times in her last 128 plate appearances.

On the travel circuit, Dimler plays for Breakers Labs. She’s the No. 89 player in her class per Softball America and No. 93 per FloSoftball.

Allie Enright, OF

Enright is an outfielder from Saugus High School in Saugus, California, the same school that produced current Arizona ace Mariah Lopez. Enright hit .312 with two homers, two triples and six doubles in 28 games as a sophomore in 2018-19. She also swiped two bases.

She plays travel ball for the SoCal Choppers. FloSoftball ranks Enright as the No. 37 player in her class.

Amber Toven, SS

A shortstop from Sierra Canyon High School in Chatsworth, California, Toven hit .558 with two homers, seven doubles, 19 RBI and three stolen bases in 19 games in 2018-19. She also drew four walks.

Toven is ranked just outside Softball America’s Top 100.

“Toven is a quality shortstop with a discerning eye at the plate and an innate ability to square up the ball,” wrote Tony Ciniglio of the Daily News.
