Arizona walk-on Jake DesJardins enters transfer portal

Arizona Wildcats walk-on Jake DesJardins has entered the transfer portal, according to VerbalCommits.com. DesJardins is on track to graduate in May, so he will be able to play immediately and have one year of eligibility at his new school.

This news comes as no surprise. Arizona coach Sean Miller said earlier in the month that DesJardins had not appeared in any games this season so that he could redshirt and retain a fifth year of eligibility and use it to play elsewhere.

“His plan is he’s gonna finish the Eller program this spring, I guess one or two classes left, and then he is going to potentially, I don’t know if he’s made up his mind, go the grad transfer route and play it maybe a lower level where he can contribute more,” Miller said on March 3. “That’s something that him and I have talked about. That’s why I’m not putting him in the game.”

DesJardins appeared in 17 career games with the Wildcats, posting 11 points and 11 rebounds in 42 minutes. He was best known for his bench celebrations and overall enthusiasm.

DesJardins was on scholarship in 2018-19 when the Wildcats had a surplus. Before attending the UA, he was a first-team all-state player at Coronado High School in the Las Vegas area.
