Arizona pursuing Gardner-Webb transfer Nate Johnson, an elite shooter

Add another target to the list.

The Arizona Wildcats are one of several teams that have reached out to Gardner-Webb transfer Nate Johnson, according to Corey Evans of Rivals.com.

A 6-foot-3 guard, Johnson averaged 13.5 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game this season. The redshirt junior is an elite 3-point shooter, converting 41 percent of his triples, despite taking six per game.

Johnson’s school-produced bio says he is an “explosive athlete with great shooting range well beyond the three-point arc … Shoulders high expectations on the defensive end as well and is one of the team’s most active defenders.”

Assuming Johnson is on track to graduate in four years, he should be able to play immediately at his new school and have one year of eligibility. The Wildcats sure could use his 3-point shooting.
