Arizona dropped from AP Top 25 after loss to UCLA
Jacob Snow-USA TODAY Sports
After a total clunker against UCLA in which they shot a program-worst 25.4 percent in McKale Center, the Arizona Wildcats have been dropped from the latest AP Top 25 poll.
Arizona (16-7, 6-4 Pac-12) was previously ranked No. 23. This is the second time in three weeks the Wildcats have been unranked, though they did receive 34 votes, placing them as the No. 30 team in the country.
The Wildcats still rank 10th in NET and 15th in KenPom, but the selection committee’s initial reveal of the top-16 seeds, which Arizona was not among, shows those metrics don’t carry that much weight.
According to BracketMatrix.com, which compiles the bracket projections for several outlets, the Wildcats are projected to be a 6- or 7-seed by most experts.
They will look to get back to winning ways Thursday at Cal when they kick off the Bay Area road trip.
